Rendition of Michelangelo's Pieta by Artist Gary Paduch
Artist's Comments:
I made this rendering in 1976 along with several others with watercolor and drybrush. At that time, it was very difficult to reproduce the various ranges of intensity in this sepia / umber tone.
Although we sold several hundred of them, we were not happy with the product and discontinued the project.
Recently, we attempted it as a Giclée and were very happy with the result. The printing technology has improved so much in 32 years. We can now make the prints and the Giclée reproductions affordable.
At the time I made these pictures I had to work on these projects after my regular workday, thus the use of this media and subject matter.
